About us

Our History

Boat Service Licata was created by Elia di Prima in 2015, with the goal of addressing all types of issues encountered on boats for clients sailing around Sicily or wintering there. With the associates he trained, and the partners he selected, he went from a specialized GRP skillset to mechanic, electronic, wood work, deck hardware, etc. As a matter of fact, Boat Service Licata has been a one-stop shopping business for sailors for quite a few years now, with its reputation spanning all around Sicily.

Elia was born on the south Sicilian coast, and everyone there shares a passion for the sea. Eleven years spent in Germany as a kid gave him easy and challenging skills. For the easy one, Elia is fluent in German (on top of English and of course Italian), and for the more challenging one, he has a rare sense of work commitment.

Back in Sicily, he studied GFK/fiberglass chemistry, applied to construction boats up to 30 meter. He practiced this during a few years with a large boat yard in Sicily, and learned how it can be as much science as it is art.

After working 7 years for this boat yard he became a partner there. But striving to understand more about boats, in 2015 he started his own boat multiservice company.

Since then, working in and out of Licata, Elia has built a solid network of expertise in all areas related to sailing and motor boats — overseeing maintenance and repair on more than 50 boats per years, preparing regatta boats too, with the possibility of hauling out up to 300 tons and representing two major french catamaran brands there.

In his limited free-time, Elia enjoys time with his family, travel and of course going at sea, sharing this passion with all his clients and partners.

Partnerships

Marina Cala del Sole attracted many catamarans over the years, with an openly friendly sales policy toward them. For this reason we started dealing with the specifics of the twin hull design over a decade ago. After successfully driving some complex projects on their range, the french catamaran yard Fountaine-Pajot gave us an official representation role in Sicily for technical matters.

Faced with rising demand in the Southern part of Italy, the British brokerage company William & Smithells asked us to become their official representative, both for sellers and for buyers. To the former we provide go-to-market material and logistical support, for the later we provide technical information, logistic support for the visits, and of course the possibility to conduct some post-transaction work which usually come with a new yacht ownership.

Over the years, we developed a deep and trusting relationship with the local yacht ecosystem. This would include Nautilhouse, managed by Andrea, an indispensable support to our activity. Andrea is in contact with all the main vendors for any yard and any type of systems. Raymarine, Harken, Lagoon, B&G … you name it, Andrea can get it for you, delivered directly on the boat if necessary. On top of this, Nautilhouse will take care of regular safety inspections for life rafts and safety jackets.

For all electric and electronics, we have been working with Giuseppe Vedda for many years. Giuseppe’s company has developed an impressive reputation going way farther than Sicily’s boundaries since 1974. Both expert with Electronic systems (B&G, Raymarine, Lowrance, etc) and Electric ones (Mastervolt, Victron, Sterling, etc), Giuseppe has never let one of our client down.

“The classic saying is that the two best days for sailors
come the day they purchase and the day they sell their boat.

Well … With all the team at Boat Service Licata,
we are here to save all the ones in between.”
